The Mission Valley Lady Vikings have started off the season 6-1 overall.  The Lady Vikes came out swinging on Saturday, August 26th, at the Amy Schutter Memorial Invitational at Alma.  The first team in pool play to take on the Lady Vikes were the Bears from Oskaloosa.  The Lady Vikes were on their game, beating them 25-16, 25-22. The next opponent were the Eagles from Axtell.  The Lady Vikes took no time defeating them 25-21, 25-15.  The last opponent in pool play were the Mustangs from Rock Creek.  The Lady Vikings played an exciting and exhausting match against Rock Creek, edging them out for the win 25-14, 18-25, 28-26.

The Lady Vikings were on a roll as they were seated first in pool play and moved into the Championship side of the bracket.  Their next opponent in Semi-Finals were the Lady Indians from Osage City.  It took another tough match, as the Lady Vikings came out on top, 22-25, 25-15, 25-22.  On to the Championship match the Lady Vikings went.  It had already been an emotional day ending with wins.  They met up with a State Championship team as the Panthers from Centralia beat the Lady Vikings 25-19, 25-17

It was an emotionally and physically exhausting day, but the Lady Vikings persevered in tough situations.  They never gave up and worked together as a unit to take a step towards accomplishing their goals set for the season.

On Tuesday, August 29, the Wildcats of Northern Heights came to Mission Valley in the first contest of the Flint Hills League.  The Lady Vikings were ready to play and defeated the Wildcats 25-20, 25-15 and then in the second match, defeated them again 25-16, 26-24.

The Lady Vikings are able to rest as their next contest is not until September 5th, when they take on the Tigers of Lyndon in another Flint Hills League matchup.
