It is hard to believe it is already August! While the summer has been full of family and relaxing, I am excited to begin my new adventure as the Mission Valley Elementary Principal. Coming to Mission Valley feels like a sort of homecoming for me since I attended Dover Elementary/Jr High and Mission Valley High School.
I earned my Elementary Education Degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood from Emporia State University in May of 2000. After teaching Preschool and Kindergarten I decided to return to ESU while teaching for a Master's in Instructional Design and Technology which I completed in May of 2008. I then taught 2nd grade for several years before moving to an Instructional Coach position while completing my administration degree from Fort Hays State University. In 2017, I earned my National Board Certification for Teachers as an Early Childhood Generalist.
Since I was young, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. After learning and growing in two other districts, I seized the opportunity to come home to MV and share my passion for education here. My three children attend school here because I believe MV offers exactly what we want for our children. I have seen a lot of great things at Mission Valley and am excited to be a part of that magic as we continue to meet the needs of students, families, and staff while also integrating some new ideas. It is a dream come true to lead Mission Valley as the elementary principal and I am excited to serve the students, families, and staff!
