On March 17, 2020, Governor Laura Kelly closed schools for the rest of the school year. This decision was not made lightly.  We have many obstacles to overcome, but Mission Valley will continue in some manner educating our students.  A State Task Force will have recommendations by the end of the 18th and we will develop a plan to continue learning for our students, so, please stay tuned.  This can and will be exciting yet, uneasy times.  Stay Strong Vikings!

This decision was made in the best interest and safety of the students, staff, families and community. This was not an easy decision to make, knowing that it will create some hardships to some families. But will benefit all families, along with the community as a whole, in the long run.

One of our main concerns is our students. It is important that you keep the lines of communication open by talking with them in their terms about the virus, how it is contracted, and ways to prevent it. Reassure them of your love and comfort. Also, by minimizing their exposure to the media about COVID-19 it will help to alleviate their anxiety about the disease.

In the meantime, please stay vigilant and follow the recommendations from the medical professionals:

  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Wash hands with soap and water thoroughly for 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your face/mouth with your hands if they have not been washed.
  • Avoid being around sick people
  • If you feel sick----STAY HOME and contact your local health care provider.
  • Be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to work or school.
  • Use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • If you have traveled out-of-the country or if you have traveled to a known "hot spot" in the United States after February are highly recommended to contact your local county health department and notify them of your travels.

The Kansas High School Activities Association announced effective Monday, March 16, all spring sports and activities are suspended through Sunday, March 22.  This includes cancellation of all practices and competitions for this week.

This prohibition is consistent with KSDE and governmental guidance and may be extended, should conditions warrant.

Please note spring sports team members are prohibited from club or outside team participation and practice during this period.  Not only would such outside participation be contrary to handbook rule, it would be contrary to the very reason activities are cancelled during the time we seek to mitigate potential transfer of the contagion.

Mission Valley Facility Usage:

As a reminder, due to the closure of USD 330 Mission Valley until Monday, March 30th all usage of USD 330 Mission Valley facilities/equipment is suspended.

This includes the use of USD 330 facilities for outside agencies, groups, events, meetings, and recreational athletics.

Please contact the USD 330 District Office if you have any questions.
