December 9, 2020

Viking Family,

On December 8, 2020 the KSHSAA Board of Directors met to consider the recommendation of the Board of Appeals to amend the restricted attendance rule that was previously approved on November 24th.  With a vote of 54-24, the following language was adopted:

Effective Thursday, December 10, 2020 through January 28, 2021, interscholastic activities will allow for attendance up to two parents/guardians per participant(s) family as allowed by local board of education or health department restrictions.   Participants are currently interpreted as: Players, Coaches, Student Managers, Cheer Squads, Dance Teams, Pep Bands, and Student Journalists.

All other risk mitigation policies put into place by the Board of Directors on November 24th will remain in effect.  This includes strict adherence to wearing masks, extended practice moratorium from December 23rd through January 3rd, extended competition moratorium from December 23rd through January 7th, and restrictions on Invitational Tournaments.

The USD 330 Board of Education has already approved that two spectators may be permitted at activities and the Wabaunsee County Health Department has agreed that we may permit spectators following KSHSAA regulations.   USD 330 Mission Valley will follow the decision by the KSHSAA Board of Directors from December 8, 2020 regarding attendance at interscholastic activities.

The minutes from the December 8th meeting can be found on the KSHSAA website or by following this link http://www.kshsaa.org/public/pdf/decbod2020minutes.pdf .
