MESSAGE FROM MRS. AMY JOHNSTON, PRINCIPAL

A few short weeks ago, we hosted a Veterans Day program on November 11th. While Veterans were, of course, our guests for the event, all in attendance were able to take some time from our busy schedules to be thankful for our Veterans and their families. The event began with students escorting their guests where it was easy to see the love and pride in their young faces. Other parts of the program included students performing songs, Taps was played to remember our fallen soldiers, a slide presentation of Veterans, student readings and a reception. Even though this was our first program for this important day, it certainly won’t be the last.

Thank you to:

The students for participation and respectful behavior during the program, 

Mrs. Hancock and Mrs Sperry for your hard work preparing students, 

Staff for organizing and helping when needed, 

Debbi Childers and MV Food Services for reception items, 

Washburn Rural Air Force Jr ROTC for presentation of flags, 

SFC Tobi Wood for playing Taps, and 

The community and Veterans for your attendance. Mark your calendars for next year’s Veterans Day program!

Common expectations in the classroom, playground, lunchroom, restrooms, and hallways. With the new year off and running, below are a few reminders to help this school year continue to go smoothly. Please help us provide a safe environment for our students on a daily basis: 

  • Students that are brought to school at the start of the school day must be dropped off at the North East end of building. Staff is there at 7:45 - 8:00 a.m. to meet your child. 

  • Students are dismissed at 3:30 p.m. Students are to be picked up at the North end of the building. Elementary students are not to be walking in or across the parking lot unless escorted by an adult. 

  • Students are not to be left at the school unattended to wait for an activity to start. Students must be appropriately supervised by an adult at all times while attending school activities that are after the school day. 

Transportation changes: 

  • Day to day changes - Contact the elementary office by 2:45 p.m. 

  • Permanent bus changes must be made with Mary Hewes at the District Office, who then notifies elementary secretaries. 

Regularly check our website for district/school updates. www.mv330.org

Sincerely,

Amy Johnston, Elementary Principal
