What can we do to prevent bullying in Kansas schools? A Blue Ribbon Task Force was created in March 2019 by Dr. Randy Watson to investigate current bullying trends of students in Kansas. Through this task force they are asking teens to share their thoughts on bullying by accessing https://mewe.com/join/kansasblueribbontaskforceonbullying and providing their thoughts and experiences. All comments and information received through the website will be shared with the Task Force and will be used to develop recommendations for the State Board of Education at their meeting in December.

How can we give all Kansas kids the best start in life? Parents of children of all ages, community and business leaders, health providers, early childhood providers, elected officials, and anyone who is passionate about the future of Kansas children and families are all encouraged to participate in these community conversations. Unofficial Minutes (subject to Board approval) SPECIAL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – May 30, 2019 Board President, Clinton Lambotte, called the special meeting of the Board of Education of Mission Valley USD #330 to order at 7:00 p.m. in the board conference room in Eskridge, Kansas. Board members present were Jim Rudeen, Debbi Childers, Tom Phillips and Tuff Stephenson. Jon Deters and Clipper Goodrich were absent. The superintendent and board clerk also attended. Tom Phillips moved, seconded by Tuff Stephenson, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion passed 5 to 0. Tom Phillips moved, seconded by Jim Rudeen, to approve the 2019-20 negotiated offers as presented which includes raises of 3.37% for certified staff. Motion passed 5 to 0. Tom Phillips moved, seconded by Tuff Stephenson, to approve the hiring of Alicia Elliott as Elementary teacher. Motion passed 5 to 0. Tom Phillips moved, seconded by Tuff Stephenson, to approve the hiring of Becky Zerr as ELA teacher. Motion passed 5 to 0. Tom Phillips moved, seconded by Debbi Childers, to adjourn the meeting. State Track resumes today with MV Girls 4x100 (Kessler, Murray, Halupa, Deters) scheduled to run @ 3:00. Brooke Roberts will throw Discus & Shot late today or early evening. No prelims today and running events will be on a rolling schedule. Good Luck Lady Vikes!

State Track Meet delayed due to thunderstorms. The committee will reconvene at 3:00 to make further decisions.

At our end of the school year Elementary Assembly this afternoon we honored all the students that have received awards and we said good-bye to those that are leaving and those retiring. We wish you all the best!

Congratulations to the following MVHS Track & Field State Qualifiers after placing in the top 4 at Friday’s Regional Track Meet at Jeff. Co. North: Brooke Roberts - 2nd in Discus; 4th in Shot Put; Shelby Kesler, MacKenzie Murray, Tatiana Halupa, Megan Deters - 3rd in Girls 4x100M Relay; Caleb Lisk - 4th in Pole Vault. These athletes will participate in the State Track & Field Meet this Friday & Saturday at Wichita State University. Good Luck Vikings!!!
