At the June 11th Board of Education meeting the Board voted to move forward with implementing a Random Drug Testing Program at the 7th-12th grade levels. The Random Drug Testing program will not become official until the Board of Education takes final action to approve the proposed policy that is being created. The next regular scheduled board meeting is set for Monday, July 23, 2018 @ 7 p.m.
The information that was received from the Random Drug Testing Survey this Spring, which was completed by 275 parent(s)/patron(s), identified that 75% of the respondents indicated some level of concern of drug use at Mission Valley with 35% of respondents reporting that they are extremely concerned. In addition, 60% of the respondents indicated that they believed a random drug testing program should be implemented at Mission Valley. The survey also indicated that over 50% felt that a public meeting should be held to discuss this information.
