AFTER PROM 2023
Hello MV parents! The MV After Prom committee is recruiting new
members for 2022-2023! The purpose of this group is to put on an
after-prom event for the kids that is fun and safe. We meet about once
a month and plan fund raising events that help pay for an event venue,
games, prizes, food, and much more. Our first meeting will be held at El
Ranchito in Auburn on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 6pm. Please join us
if you have a Mission Valley kiddo who will be a junior or senior next
year. OR if you just want to be involved in a fun group. We welcome
everyone and would love to hear your ideas for a fantastic after-prom!
Please reach out with any questions. You may also keep track of
information through the Facebook page titled “Mission Valley After
Prom”. We look forward to seeing you on June 1st!

MVHS put on its "Reality Check University" today. The 9th-12th grade got the chance to do 'adulting' financial activities. The kids learned how good or bad certain decisions can affect their yearly income. They were given an annual salary and had to search for and buy a house, search for and buy a car, get insurance for both, and pay for repairs to both. They also learned about how much pets actually cost, how much hospital bills are, the importance of health insurance, and lastly what it costs you get arrested. Coverage was done by WIBW, so look for the news tonight.
We had 11 community vendors show up to help the students. I want to especially thank Mark Hoelting (Flint Hills Bank), Diane Turnbull (Flint Hills Insurance), Brittany & Michael Wiseman (Countrywide Realty), Duane Lister (Maple Hill Truck & Auto), JD Hill (Circle J Construction), Dr. Jenny Howe (Westport Animal Clinic), Garick Gehrt (Alma Coop), Tim Liesmann (Wabaunsee County Attorney), the United States Army, the United States Marine Corps, the Kansas Army National Guard, our own SRO Angie King, and also our own Nurse Josey Marcotte and Clerk of the Board Tasha Raine. #VikingReality #nofreelunchhere #lifecostsmoney #lifescurveballs
