Viking Elementary Parents:
Tomorrow, September 24th, your elementary child will be given a paper copy of the Household Economic Survey form. Since ALL children are eligible for Free meals at school this year, the usual form that is used to determine Free or Reduced is not required to be completed this year.
This year, since meals are free for ALL children we now must use the Household Economic Survey form to gather information on the number of students that would still be eligible. The greater number of students who are determined eligible based on the Household Economic Survey then allows the district to receive additional At-Risk funding. This form is also used to determine if students are eligible to have their school fees waived.
We are asking all families that would typically fill out the Free & Reduced Meal application to go ahead and fill out the Household Economic Survey form. If you are unsure on whether you will qualify then we ask that you go ahead and complete the form. Along with the Household Economic Survey we will also provide the 2021-2022 Income Eligibility Guidelines for you to review. The eligibility guidelines can also be found at on the KSDE website or by clicking on this link: 21-22 Income Eligibility Guidelines
The information you provide is confidential and only viewed by school staff who are assigned to manage this application. It is very important that every family who meets the criteria completes and submits this form and returns it to the Elementary Office.
Thank you for your continued support of Mission Valley Schools and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
William J. Clark
Superintendent of Schools
