We are excited to host a Scholastic BOGO Book Fair, May 3-7, 2021. We have not done one of these in the past, but one of our goals is to make sure students have books to read over the summer. The library does not receive any profit from this fair, but it does allow students the opportunity to purchase books for summer reading. The best way to allow your student to shop is to use the e-wallet option. With this option, students are only allowed to use what you put in the e-wallet and you are only charged for what they spend. Thank you for supporting our students the opportunity to read over the summer.

HS Track, JV BSB & JV SB have been canceled for this evening. I will talk to the A.D.’s early next week to see if we can make these up.
Thanks.

Due to weather, the Rock Creek meet scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed to next Monday. With that being said, we will NOT be attending the Rock Creek meet at all this year. Next Monday (4/19) is our FFA Banquet and we did not want to make our kids, who have already missed out on a full year of activity's, pick which event (Banquet or Track Meet) they would rather attend. So, we have figured out an alternative plan. We are foregoing the Rock Creek meet and working on scheduling a new track meet for the first week of May (3-7th). This is an open week for us and it will be beneficial for our athletes to have a meet in preparation for the league meet the following week. We have a couple of good options for meets to attend that week and will let you know as soon as something is scheduled.

The High School Track Meet scheduled at Rock Creek for Friday (tomorrow) has been postponed at this time.

We would like to thank Mrs. Bergin's Advanced Interior Design Students, Kiki Widau and Karlyn Gustin for their remodel of the Elementary Teacher's Lounge. It is beautiful! Great Job Girls!

I would like to send out a reminder to all 8th graders & their parents/guardians that the 8th Grade Transition to HS orientation is tonight at 6 p.m. in the HS commons.

UPDATE: due to a scheduling conflict, the MVHS group visit to Emporia State University has been moved to 4/27/2021. The vans will leave at 9:00 a.m. and the students will be back no later than 2:00 p.m.

REMINDER: Last day of ACC classes are 5/14/21. Please have your ACC textbook to my office by that day or you will have to make arrangements to return the book to the Burlingame campus on your own. I will send out another reminder the week prior.

Great News From Mission Valley FCCLA !
Our chapter participated in the State Leadership Conference virtually on April 11 & 12. Karlyn Gustin was officially voted in by Kansas as a National Officer Candidate. She will go through the election process in Nashville, TN this summer. State STAR Event Results: Mission Valley has five National STAR Event Qualifiers: Megan Deters, Paige Sims, Kiki Widau, Clara Johnston, and Karlyn Gustin who will compete in Nashville this summer. Athena White earned bronze on her state project. Mission Valley won the State STAR Award for highest percentage of our chapter competing at the state level. (We had previously won the same award for District D). Megan Deters and Paige Sims each won two Kansas FCCLA Scholarships for their active participation in the organization. Megan won the Peer Education Scholarship and Leadership Scholarship. Paige won the Leadership Scholarship and the Alumni & Associates Scholarship. Our chapter earned Kansas Community Service Runner-Up for our "Vikings Mask Up to Take Down Covid" project, in which we made over 80 masks for staff members last August. Amy Johnston was named the Kansas FCCLA Administrator of the Year for upholding and supporting the values of FCCLA, such as family, community and servant leadership. (We received her plaque yesterday and are planning to present her plaque to her on Monday). Mrs. Bergin was nominated by students and was named the Kansas Chapter Adviser of the Year. She also completed the requirements to graduate from "Adviser Academy" this summer. This was a four-month training program from National FCCLA to become a stronger adviser.
