Congratulations to Kyplee for her 4th place finish in the League Cross Country Meet yesterday at Melvern Lake, and to AJ for his 3rd place finish. It was a great day to run. The course was tough but all of our Cross Country runners performed well. Thank you to all who came out and supported all of our runners.

Activity: FHL/LCL XC Meet Date: October 17, 2019 Time: 4:00 pm CT Location: Melvern Lake Outlet Park Exit West off of Hwy 75 (Directly East of Dam) Information: We are happy to be hosting the FHL and LCL Cross Country meet. The meet will be held at Melvern Lake in the Outlet Area. This area is located just off US Highway 75. We are very appreciative of the US Army Corps of Engineers for allowing us to host this event at their facility. Parking for this event will be at the Outlet Swimming Beach Parking Lot. The bathroom/shower facility at the beach will be open for this event. The course encompasses both the beach and camping areas within the Outlet Area. The start and finish areas are located around the Outlet Swimming Beach parking area. The course utilizes the large hill coming into the park, a suspension bridge that crosses over the outlet river channel, the outlet campground and picnic areas and an existing walking trail in addition to the grass areas beside the entranced road. Teams: Central Heights, Chase County, Council Grove, Lyndon, Mission Valley, Northern Heights, Osage City, West Franklin, Burlingame, Hamilton, Hartford, Lebo, Southern Coffey County, Madison, Marais de Cygnes, Olpe, Waverly Schedule: 4:00 pm MS Grade Girls – 2 Mile 4:30 pm MS Grade Boys – 2 Mile 5:00 pm Girls’ Race – 5K 5:30 pm Boys’ Race – 5K 6:00 pm Junior Varsity Boys and Girls – 5K Awards: FHL/FHJL: Varsity Boys/Girls – Top 15 racers medal/Championship Plaques MS Boys/Girls – Top 10 racers medal LCL: Top 3 runners will be awarded medals in JH/HS Boys and Girls divisions.

REMINDER: Some 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students will be participating in the PSAT/NMSQT assessment tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. (10/16/19). High test scores can qualify students for scholarships. Please encourage your student to eat well & get enough rest prior to test time.

On 10/8/19, MV Stuco participated in their league workshop at Camp Wood YMCA in Chase County. A lot of fun was to be had as the students learned about verbal/non-verbal communication & their importance while completing team based events.

Despite the windy day, 6th graders spent an hour with Pam Rindt attempting to catch and tag some Monarch Butterflies. We successfully caught and tagged one female. What a fun experience! Thanks Mrs. Rindt for taking some time to help us explore outside the walls of Mission Valley Elementary.

OSAGE CITY INVITATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY MEET Date: Thursday, October 10, 2019 Location: Osage City Country Club 1401 S. 4 th Street (South on 4 th from Market Street 1 mile) Teams: Anderson County, Mission Valley, Santa Fe Trail, Northern Heights, Lyndon, West Franklin,Silver Lake, Wellsville, Lebo, Council Grove, St. Marys, Osage City Schedule: 4:00 JH Girls 4:25 JH Boys 4:50 Varsity Girls’ Race- 5K 5:30 Varsity Boys’ Race- 5K 6:15 Junior Varsity Boys and Girls 6:45 Youth Fun Run (Anyone can run, youth watching, coaches, parents, etc.) 7:15 Awards Awards: Top 15 varsity finishers in each race medal. Top 3 JV and the Top 10 JH boys and girls finishers. First place JH boys and girls teams (6 per team). No more than 7 medals will be awarded to the top 3 teams in the varsity races.
