Mrs. Brungardt's U.S. Government class doing a legislative simulation.

Mrs. Brungardt's U.S. Government class completed a legislative simulation prior to Thanksgiving break. The two different sections were transformed into the House of Representatives (3rd Hour) and the Senate (6th hour). They held elections for Speaker of the House and for President Pro Tempore in the Senate. Students had to work to write "bills" in the areas of Academics, Extra-Curriculars, and School Policy. Bills then made their way through committees, the House & Senate floors, and for a few, eventually to the "President's Desk." This simulation gave students a view as to how our U.S. Congress works to pass legislation and the issues that come with it.
In total, the students wrote 98 bills, of which 81 died either in committees or on the House or Senate Floors. A total of 17 bills passed both the House and Senate and of those 13 were signed by the president.
