Due to low projected numbers with JH girls volleyball, we will be allowing 6th graders to play next year. We anticipate this being only one year, but will reevaluate each spring. Incoming 6th graders will need to get a physical done on or after May 1st before they can practice. Volleyball camp will be June 9th and 10th from 9-11 am. The first day of practice is Monday, August 18th and the last day of the season is Saturday, October 18th. During this time, no players are allowed to practice or play on outside teams (for example Sportszone or Club Teams). If you have questions, please contact Coach Logan or athletic director Ben Packard.

In March the 5 SAFE members that were able to attend the monthly meeting during Viking Hour wrote letters to Governor Kelly petitioning her to sign SB8. Senate Bill 8 is the move over law. In the past, the law only required drivers to move over a lane for emergency vehicles. SB8 would change the law so that any vehicle on the side of the road with emergency flashers on, requires drivers to move over a lane. On Monday April 9, Mrs. Larson received this letter in response from Governor Kelly to SAFE members, regarding their letters written.

Congratulations to Maddie Kraus on being one of KSHSAA Covered's 2-1A softball players to watch! A unanimous first-team All-Flint Hills League selection who also earned second-team All-Class 2-1A honors last year, Kraus was a force in the Vikings’ lineup last year as a sophomore. She tied for the team high in home runs with three along with fellow sophomore Kaitlyn Coursen and was one of five Vikings with at least 20 RBI, driving in 23. Her .373 average ranked third on the team. The Vikings return every player from last season’s team.

Congratulations to Kyplee Jacobson on being one of KSHSAA Covered's 2-1A softball players to watch! Jacobson is a four-year starter for the Vikings at catcher and helped the program capture the Class 2-1A state championship in 2022 as a freshman when the Vikings went 23-2. She’s led the Vikings to the regional championship game each of the past two seasons, earning first-team All-Flint Hills League honors each year. Last year, she was a first-team All-Class 2-1A selection as well after hitting a team-high 439 with 2 home runs and 26 RBI.
